Economic analysis of the Canadian transportation sector, with particular emphasis on the movement of agricultural commodities. Specific topics start with an overview of basic operations research methods including linear programming, efficiency measurement and network analysis. The industrial organization and regulation of the freight transportation sector are then examined via contestability theory and new empirical industrial organization (NEIO) methods. Finally, links between transportation and economic development are identified.

Permission of instructor required.
Note: Students with credit for BPBE 845 may not take this course for credit.
