Description
Plant physiological processes are analyzed at the cellular, developmental and whole-plant, at cellular, developmental, and whole-plant levels, with emphasis on mechanistic and functional understanding. Students analyze mechanisms underlying water and nutrient transport, photosynthesis, respiration, signaling, and growth regulation, and integrate these physiological processes to explain plants performance and plasticity in response to environmental challenge. Students develop quantitative reasoning, data interpretation skills, and the ability to apply physiological principles to plant adaptation and responses in diverse ecosystems.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 222.
