Description
This course explores the basic principles of vocology and vocal pedagogy. Classes address the anatomy and physiology of singing, the processes of sound production, and acoustics, as well as past and current methodologies of vocal pedagogy (both in classical and contemporary commercial music, CCM). The focus is to ensure singers and educators are skilled in maintaining and fostering vocal health and habilitation while teaching singing.
Prerequisite(s): 45 credit units of university courses including MUS 101.3 or MUS 133.3; or permission of the Program Chair of Music.
Note: To be successful in this class students must be able to read music, have had previous voice training (private or choral), and be prepared to sing in front of the class..
