Description
The course aims to appraise ageist discourse within societal and healthcare systems regarding caring with older adults. Learners will apply a relationship-centered care approach across the continuum of care, emphasizing the holistic needs of older adults. In this course, you will have the opportunity to practice durable skills such as time management, teamwork, professionalism, reflective practice, and sharing lived experiences. The course will cover concepts, relevant nursing standards and competencies, and holistic interprofessional roles, to equip learners with a gerontological toolkit. Key concepts include relational care, ethical care, evidence-informed, aesthetic/artful care, socio-politically engaged care.
Restriction(s): Restricted to students in the College of Nursing who are registered in the B.S.N. program or the Post-Degree B.S.N. Option.
Prerequisite(s): NURS 221.3
Note: Post-Degree B.S.N. classes are offered in an open learning format with the same number of hours, but in alternate time frames.
