An introduction to the processes and interactions in the earth's biophysical environment with a particular emphasis on the flow of energy and matter within global environmental systems. Topics include global radiation and energy balances, atmospheric and oceanic processes, the hydrological cycle, earth surface processes and biogeochemical cycling. Case studies are introduced to illustrate the interaction between human activity and the natural environment.

Note: A background in high school sciences at the 30-level is recommended.
