CHEP 415.3: Global Health Certificate Global Community Practicum

This 5-week international practicum offers students a service-learning experience in a global partner community. Students will work with community organizations, applying global health concepts in real-world settings to help promote health equity. The course emphasizes historical context, solidarity, and advanced skills in community engagement, focusing on issues such as colonialism, neoliberalism, and globalization. Students will engage in advocacy, develop leadership skills, and critically reflect on their roles in addressing health disparities. Through participatory learning, students will explore decolonizing approaches to health and contribute to community-driven solutions for health equity.

Permission of the department is required.
Restriction(s): Restricted to College of Medicine students in the Certificate in Global Health program.
Prerequisite(s): Students registering for the international practicum will have already completed CHEP 402.3 and CHEP 403.3, met the program language requirement, completed the Northern Saskatchewan practicum (CHEP 411.3) and be engaged in the Inner City Practicum (CHEP 410.3).
