A survey of the major religious, political, intellectual and economic changes in Europe during the second half of the early modern era, with a particular focus on Europeans' changing self-understanding in relation to different peoples and cultures within and without its geographic and cultural boundaries.

Prerequisite(s): 3 credit units of 100-level HIST courses or 30 credit units of university-level courses.
Note: Students with credit for HIST 226.6 Early Modern Europe 1555-1789 may not take this course for credit.
