Description
This three-week experience-based course is for students who have taken Popular Culture and Cinema in Japan (JPNS 233). Based on what they studied in JPNS 233, they will actually visit the places related to the themes of JPNS 233 contents and explore Japanese culture with their own eyes. Providing this opportunity for students to experience first-hand some important cultural and spiritual sites in Japan will increase their curiosity, understanding, and respect for Japanese culture, and– of course, at the same time– will invite comparisons with, and questions about, and perhaps deeper appreciation for their own culture, as well. By the end of the course, the students will have deepened their knowledge of Japanese popular and traditional culture and broadened their horizon.
Prerequisite(s): JPNS 233.3.
Note: Costs in addition to tuition will apply to this course.
